A walk-through inspection as might be done for a building society, a RICS HomeBuyer Report and a building survey (formerly called a structural survey). Many will opt for the RICS HomeBuyer Report which provides an overview of the condition of the property.  It is designed for traditional types of construction Reports on each element of the building looking for cracking, damp, rot etc Highlights matters that in the surveyor’s opinion are serious or urgent Includes a valuation and recommended rebuilding cost for insurance Can be delivered electronically or/and by post. Cost is typically between £300 and £500 including VAT depending on the size, condition and location of the property and whether there are extensions and outbuildings.
